Direct Service (Connected Disability)
- This claim is made when a Veteran has an injury, disease or condition that was caused or precipitated as the result of an occurrence that took place while the Veteran was in service.
- There must be a current disability documented by a medical professional (Military or Civilian).
- There must be documentation the Veteran's service records of some accident, occurrence, or precipitating event which occurred in service (Leave and furlough is a part of service).
- There must be a nexus or link between the current disability and the precipitating cause or event in service.
